We recently initiated the development of a second next-generation Class A logistics building at Prologis Park Piacenza, on the 360,000 square metre "Granella" site. This will be our sixth building at Prologis Park Piacenza.
After the 45,000 square metre DC5 building was completed in 2020 – our first speculative development in this new area, which has been fully leased by Geodis – construction of the new DC6 building is now under way. The 45,000 square metre DC6 building will be LEED® certified. It will have 48 loading bays with electric vehicle charging points, along with rainwater collection basins and green areas with a large number of trees.
In terms of environmental sustainability, having installed photovoltaic panels on more than 3,000 square metres of DC5 that will generate enough power to meet 80% of Geodis' electricity requirements, we are also planning a significant solar installation to cover DC6's energy needs. Over the last two years, solar panels have been installed on more than 10,000 square metres of roof space at Prologis Park Piacenza, which will generate a total of around 1,000 kWp for our buildings. We are continuing to pursue ambitious environmental sustainability goals and to construct buildings that enable our customers to pursue theirs.
After completion of this new speculative building, scheduled for the end of February 2022, there will still be 60,000 square metres available at Prologis Park Piacenza for new developments.
Our rapid growth at Piacenza means that we will soon be able to market a modern logistics platform in a strategic location from which to serve the Milan area, as well as northern and central Italy, offering either build-to-suit facilities tailored to specific customer requirements or buildings available for leasing.
