Inauguration of the Prologis Sports Center at Bologna Interporto The first sports center located on a logistics park in Italy

In another pioneering move - in partnership with Interporto Bologna SpA - Prologis has built the Prologis Sports Center, the first sports center to be located within a logistics park in Italy and an initiative inspired by the Prologis PARKlife™ philosophy.

After a pilot project on an art theme at Prologis Park Lodi, the next iteration of the Prologis philosophy focuses on well-being through sporting activities at Bologna Interporto, thanks to a significant investment by the company. This is our way of showing that we value not only the well-being of the people who work at our logistics parks, but also that of the communities where they are based. As such, the Prologis Sports Center will be open to residents of the local areas, as well as some 5,500 people who work at Bologna Interporto. These new facilities will make it much easier to take part in sporting and leisure activities, as well as providing opportunities to socialise and meet new people.

The official opening on 10 June was attended by a large number of Prologis customers and companies operating at Bologna Interporto, who were greeted by Sandro Innocenti, Senior Vice-President and Country Manager at Prologis Italia and Marco Spinedi, Chairman of Interporto Bologna SpA. Before the traditional ribbon was cut, attendees also heard from local authority representatives and other dignitaries including Erika Ferranti, Mayor of Bentivoglio; Paolo Crescimbeni, Mayor of San Giorgio di Piano and Metropolitan Councillor for Sport; Roberta Li Calzi, Bologna Local Authority Member for Sport; Furio Veronesi, Delegate of CONI Bologna; and Don Pietro Franzoni, Parish Priest of the Parish of Maria Santissima Ausiliatrice di Bentivoglio.

The Prologis Sports Center comprises a five-a-side football pitch, a basketball court and two padel courts located in a green area close to the CAMST café within the park. All sports fields and courts are equipped with LED lighting and changing rooms. The sports facilities are managed by a local company that provides booking services, along with maintenance and cleaning. In a later stage of the development, a gym will be added by Interporto Bologna SpA.
