On September 1, Prologis employees purposefully made their way up the 21 kilometer ‘Passo dello Stelvio’ to support a vital cause. Each year, the Stelvio for Life challenge brings teams from across the organization together to raise funds for research into individualized cancer treatments based on DNA analysis. To further support this fundamental research, the Stelvio for Life foundation fosters partnerships between the Center of Personalised Cancer Treatment (CPCT) and hospitals, improves the availability of medicine and has established an international central research database.

The worthwhile event has become a staple in our Corporate Social Responsibility calendar with 2018 marking our fifth anniversary participating. This year we saw the largest, most diverse group of employees rise to the challenge. Prologis colleagues, partners and family totaled 45 participants from eight different offices. The dedicated group ran, biked or hiked the 5,029 foot peak with inexhaustible energy and vigor.

Preparation takes time, commitment and dedication – especially in light of variable weather conditions on the mountain – sunny at the start, snowy at the top. This year we not only saw our youngest participant take part but also our corporate sponsors join. We had eight runners and five cyclists, while the rest of the team determinedly hiked the distance, persevering through tough conditions to reach the finish.

The fundraising drive was equally impressive, ranging from school and office bake sales to gold-tier corporate sponsorships. Generous contributions by our sponsors helped the team raise a record €125.000 for the CPCT, far exceeding the targeted €75.000.  2018 Gold and Silver sponsors include ASK Romein, CBRE, Clifford Chance, Cushman & Wakefield, DLA Piper, Goldbeck, Hogan Lovells, Linklaters, PPA Power DS, Vitatech and White & Case.  Since being involved in Stelvio for Life, Prologis has raised more than €300.000 to help fund cancer research.

Interest in this event increases annually. Preparations are already underway for next year when we plan to attract even more interest from our networks and welcome an even wider group of participants and sponsors.
