Vercesi Green Thermo Park, the operational headquarters that we built in Pozzuolo Martesana (MI) for Autotrasporti Vercesi S.p.A. in 2020, is about to get somewhat bigger, and the works are already under way. Vercesi specialises in logistics for pharmaceuticals and biomedical products that are sensitive to changes in temperature.
The expansion of the company’s logistics platform will provide an additional 8,688 square metres, of which around 900 square metres will be used as offices. The warehouse section, which will be compliant with the rigorous standards of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) and the storage of dangerous goods regulations (ADR), will have a temperature of 15-25 °C. Green Thermo Park already has an ante-room, a positive temperature cold room (2-7°C) and a negative temperature cold room (-23°C).
The existing fire protection system will also be expanded, with the installation of an automatic sprinkler system with heat-sensitive heads, and a UNI system with fire hydrants, smoke detectors and smoke and heat extractors. A further 18 loading bays will be added, along with an area designated for two loading bay compactors, and there will be more parking: 29 extra spaces for trucks and 29 additional spaces for cars.
In terms of sustainability, the Green Thermo Park has a photovoltaic system that can provide enough renewable energy to power the extension, an LED lighting system and technologies for the remote management of the main energy and maintenance settings. As a result, this DC3 building has been awarded LEED® Gold sustainability certification. The offices will have DX cooling systems with heat recovery technology that provide hourly air changes. The extension and the building will be monitored remotely via a Building Management System (BMS) connected to probes and smart meters that make it possible to manage all of the building's technology-based functions.
We are proud that Vercesi chose Prologis once again to build this new space designed to meet the specific logistics needs of the pharmaceutical and biomedical products industry.
