Development has begun on the 360,000 square meter Granelle site acquired by Prologis in January. The new facilities will expand the Piacenza logistics park where the company currently operates four buildings on a total of 84,000 square meters.
The next-generation facilities are being built to fulfill LEED Silver and Gold environmental standards. The buildings will be smart, equipped with Prologis EEGLE technology to monitor energy use remotely and in real-time and program preventative maintenance. Other sustainable design features include LED lighting and solar panels for power generation and hot water. The outdoor spaces will include rainwater collection basins, extensive planted areas, new access routes and large parking areas.
The first 45,000 square meter Class A logistics building is currently under construction and will be ready for occupation in Q1 2020. Soon, Prologis customers will have access to a modern logistics platform offering bespoke build-to-suit and lease opportunities at a strategic location that serves both the Milan metropolitan area and North and Central Italy.
