Selecting construction materials is an important consideration in the design of any building, for both aesthetics and sustainability. Prologis is increasing its use of wood, which delivers significant benefits architecturally and structurally.
In the development of a new logistics facility for DB Schenker at Bologna Interport, Prologis used 50 Glulam beams with 42-meter spans to support the roof, enabling the creation of a 13,700 square meter building without internal pillared support. This choice guaranteed the client maximum floor space, a reduction in material transportation costs with assembly of the beams onsite and a more sustainably designed building.
